The first time that the former Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan met the legal team deployed to attack the credibility and motivation of Sergeant Maurice McCabe was an informal affair, over tea and biscuits.

Chief Superintendent Fergus Healy, Garda liaison officer at the Commission, told the Disclosures Tribunal last week that he brought senior counsel Colm Smyth to O’Sullivan’s office for a 15 to 20-minute “meet and greet” on May 21, 2015.
