Revenues top €6.6bn at Decathlon as company hires 50 new staff in Ireland

French retailer reported after-tax profits of €65.7 million as it eyes up new Irish stores around the country

Revenues topped €6.6 billion last year at the Irish-based European supply hub of Decathlon, the French sports retailer, while the company paid €9.4 million in corporation tax.

Known as the “Ikea of sports retailing”, Decathlon incorporated in Ireland in 2018, and has significantly expanded its Irish operations since then. Its turnover rose by more than €1.1 billion in 2021, after totalling €5.5 billion the year before.
