Revenue nets €33m ahead of tax shelter deadline

The Revenue Commissioners have hauled in €33 million from tax avoiders ahead of a deadline this week for high net worth individuals to disclose the use of tax shelters.

The early payments came from 90 individuals who made voluntary settlements before Tuesday’s deadline, after which the taxman will pursue avoiders through the courts. The last week has seen a surge in settlements.
