Revenue may call in sheriffs to collect up to €500m of business debt

End of Covid-19 tax warehousing scheme has raised fears over viability of many firms

Revenue confirmed it has already referred €183.5 million of bad debts to the enforcement stage

Revenue could move to collect as much as half a billion euro of bad debts from thousands of struggling firms over the next six months.

Figures obtained by the Business Post show that Revenue is currently pursuing more than €830 million of unpaid debts.
