Revenue crackdown brings in €100 million from PAYE workers

Tax modernisation project finds 58,000 workers in black economy

The Revenue has discovered more than 58,000 workers in the black economy as part of a tax crackdown that has brought in €100 million.

It has also taken tax credits off thousands of married couples who were wrongly claiming them ‘on the double’.

And it is gathering tax on sick pay given to 27,000 workers, which previously was far more difficult to correct.
