Revealed: Irish spending on drugs highest in Europe
Irish people spent $723 per capita on medicines
Irish people are spending more money on medicines per capita than any other country in the EU.
Figures provided exclusively by the OECD to this newspaper show Irish people spent $723 per capita on medicines, compared to the average of $515 across the OECD.
That was the highest per capita spend in the EU and the third highest in the OECD, with the HSE and private consumers spending €2.76 billion on medicines that were supplied in 2013.
