More than 300,000 public sector workers are set to receive bigger pensions due to the state’s failure to fully implement a law passed in 2012.

Legislation was passed in 2012 to break the automatic link between public sector pay increases and pensions.

The idea was that public sector pensioners would only get increases in line with the cost of living.
