Restaurateurs call for support package to offset rising energy costs

With electricity prices rising from €4,400 to €19,300 a year for small pubs and the price of food up an average of 66 per cent, sector representatives pushing for a targeted package to support vulnerable businesses

Restaurateurs and pub owners are seeking a grant support package for businesses as its members face mounting energy costs this winter.

The targeted package should support vulnerable businesses that can prove they require such assistance, Adrian Cummins, chief executive of the Restaurant Association of Ireland said in a meeting with Paschal Donohoe, Minister for Finance, and Michael McGrath, Minister for Public Expenditure, last week.
