Renters feeling heat to be offered new home-ownership scheme
Affordable homes would be subject to clawback measures
Hard-pressed renters on low and middle incomes will be offered a route to home ownership in the new year when the government takes the wraps off its affordable housing strategy.
Officials in the Department of Housing were putting the finishing touches to the eligibility criteria for the scheme before Christmas, with income bands similar to those in the last batch of affordable housing schemes which were scrapped in recent years.
