Central Bank chief wants speedier action on bad loans, and changes in bank culture

As the Government prepares to makea final decision on the sale of a stake in AIB, the Governor of the Central Bank has issued a number of warnings about the risks to the health of the Irish banking sector.

In a speech to the Banking and Payments Federation of Ireland, Philip Lane said that while banks had returned to profit and were financially more robust, there were sill “significant vulnerabilities”.
