Public transport numbers tracking jobs growth

NTA figures show big increases in numbers using Dublin Bus and Luas, but strike hits Bus Éireann figures

Figures from the National Transport Authority (NTA) show that the number of people using state-supported public transport rose by 7 per cent last year compared with 2016.

There were 251 million journeys by passengers on Dublin Bus, Bus Éireann, Iarnród Éireann and Luas, up 16 million from 2016. The figures were boosted by strong economic growth and new services.
