Pub owners push to raise earnings cap for students

Publicans have reported that they are seeing a “marked reluctance” by students to work beyond a given number of hours in case they lose some or all of their student maintenance grants of up to €3,025 per year

Publicans have complained that students are unwilling to work extra hours behind the bar for fear of losing their grants.

The problem is most acute in pubs located in counties along the Wild Atlantic Way, particularly Cork, Kerry, Mayo and Galway.
