Owen O'Callaghan, one of the most high-profile property developers in the country, has died after a short illness.

The Cork-based developer, who was 76, was responsible for the development of a large number of homes, shopping centres and retail parks over the last 40 years, including the Liffey Valley Centre in Dublin, Mahon Point Shopping Centre in Cork and the Opera Lane complex in Cork.
