Private firms making thousands a month in unclaimed toll change from motorists

Private companies contracted to run toll booths around Ireland are pocketing thousands of euro a month in overpayments from drivers, new figures show.

Correspondence from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), which deals with road and public transport infrastructure, shows that in 2021, private companies which operate toll plazas kept more than €400,000 in unclaimed change paid by motorists.
