Population rises to 5.1 million; Irish economy to grow strongly

The population of Ireland has risen to 5.1 million, a 7.6 per cent from 2016, according to preliminary census 2022 results. It’s the first time since 1851 that the population has risen to above 5 million. Longford and Meath saw the largest population growth with a 14.1 per cent and 12.9 per cent increase respectively. The net inward migration number rose to more than 190,000.
