New regional growth targets for cities and towns are due to be published in the coming months to ensure that development is not all concentrated in Dublin.

The targets are expected to be highly controversial, as they will show for the first time just how the new National Planning Framework will influence growth at a regional level.

And they will influence the provision of new infrastructure such as roads, schools and water services.
