Plan to ban challenges to planning by non-locals
Overhaul of planning laws will also reduce time window in which reviews can be requested
The government is to ban people from launching court challenges to planning decisions outside their local area, in a significant overhaul of the planning laws.
It comes as the judicial review of the planning permission granted to Apple to build a data centre in Athenry is due to be heard by the Supreme Court in Galway this week. The tech company eventually pulled out of the project due to the delays in finalising the case.
