Pat the Baker snaps up Irish Pride for €7m

Smaller rival went into receivership two months ago

Irish bread business Pat the Baker has paid about €7 million to buy its rival Irish Pride Bakeries. The sale is subject to approval from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

The deal covers the Irish Pride plant in Taghmon, Co Wexford, thus securing 250 jobs. However, the Irish Pride plant at Ballinrobe in Co Mayo has been excluded from the sale, and its operations are to be wound down.
