Paddy Power in move to buy Galway betting chain

Purchase of family-owned Mulholland Bookmakers awaits approval of competition watchdog

Paddy Power is attempting to buy seven betting shops owned by the Galway-based bookmaking chain Mulholland Bookmakers.

The decision is currently being reviewed the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

All seven of the shops that Paddy Power is attempting to buy are based in Galway, according to the competition body, and it would leave Mulholland with nine shops.
