Overseas donations bolster Sinn Féin to the tune of €4.6m

UK rules mean party can accept €3.7m from British benefactor and $1m from US donors, while here parties must limit donations to €2,500

The volume of donations accepted by Sinn Féin from the estate of mysterious benefactor William Hampton has continued to grow to £3.25 million (€3.7 million), the Business Post can reveal.

New filings show that the party’s Northern office accepted an additional £350,000 in donations last year from Hampton’s estate, after the Englishman left the majority of his assets to the party when he died in 2018. His estate’s value is estimated to be in excess ...
