Over 120,000 Ulster Bank accounts frozen as it withdraws from Ireland

The vast majority of frozen accounts have balances of less than €10

Ulster Bank has frozen around 126,000 bank accounts since November as it continues its withdrawal from the Republic of Ireland.

The bank believes impacted customers were no longer reliant on the accounts in question, which have had less than five transactions in a 31-day period, Jane Howard, the Ulster Bank chief executive , told an Oireachtas Committee on Wednesday.
