Out of Office: 14% increase in Dublin Port freight; €600m investment in Cork transport

A total of 8.9 million tonnes of freight was moved through Dublin Port in the first quarter of this year, a 14 per cent increase on the same period last year. New post Brexit border controls were introduced in January last year which had resulted in a decline in freight volumes. This year’s increase resulted from a 23 per cent increase in freight coming from Liverpool, Holyhead and Heysham.
