Gavin O’Reilly, the former chief executive of Independent News and Media (INM), has responded to the appointment of High Court inspectors to the media group, criticising what he terms “bad and self-serving governance” at the group in recent years.

Speaking from Malibu in California, O’Reilly said the revelations were “shocking and saddening”, adding that those who suffered most are the independent shareholders.
