Oral vaccines for Covid-19 expected by 2030

Dublin and Cork-based firms are collaborating to bring infectious disease prevention to the ‘next level’

Oral vaccines to treat infectious diseases such as Covid-19, influenza and E.coli infections could be widely available by 2030, according to Irish firm Poolbeg Pharma.

The Dublin-headquartered infectious disease company is working with AnaBio Technologies to investigate if the Cork firm’s encapsulation technology can be used as a delivery method for commercial vaccines. The companies announced a deal earlier this year and work is already under way on the project.
