Locked in talks at Stormont earlier this month, Karen Bradley wasn’t happy. It had been put to the newly-appointed Secretary of State for Northern Ireland by one negotiator that she wasn’t really committed to the negotiations. Maintaining her composure, Bradley set them straight. Westminster was in recess, she told them, and her kids were on half-term, but here she was in Belfast. “I am not here for a laugh,” she said.
