Oireachtas probe to ask why lower oil prices not reflected in electric bills

An Oireachtas committee is planning to seek answers from the regulator and energy companies about the failure to reduce electricity bills in line with falling oil and gas prices.

The chairman of the Oireachtas Communications and Transport Committee, Fine Gael TD John O’Mahony, said there had been a reduction in fuel prices at the pumps. “We need to see a similar reduction in electricity prices,” he said.
