Noonan held talks on salaries at Bank of Ireland

Details of the meetings were disclosed last week by the Department of Finance

Bank of Ireland chief executive Richie Boucher has been paid a salary consistently higher than the €500,000 ceiling

It has emerged that Minister for Finance Michael Noonan held high-level talks about pay levels at Bank of Ireland.

Noonan met with Des Carville, the head of the Department of Finance’s shareholder management unit, and Ann Nolan, its finance services director, to discuss Bank of Ireland remuneration.

The following day, he had an hour-long meeting with Bank of Ireland chairman Archie Kane.
