Patients face delays because of a shortage of specialist doctors – but vague contracts and bureaucratic infighting are hindering recruitment
The chief operating officer of the Saolta Hospital group in the west of Ireland went on local radio last week to explain why the hospital was having to cancel patient appointments.
“We explored all possible options . . . and we just weren’t successful. Nobody was interested in taking those posts up,” he said.
“Nobody?” asked the interviewer on Galway Bay FM.
