Nine out of ten homes in rent pressure zones fail to meet minimum standards

Some 14,860, or 90.3 per cent, of private rentals inspected in 2018 failed to meet minimum housing standards, up from 76 per cent in 2017

Nine out of ten rental homes in counties with rent pressure zones (RPZs) failed to meet minimum housing standards last year as councils stepped up random inspections.

Records supplied to this newspaper by local authorities with RPZs show that 16,441 private rentals were inspected in the last year compared with 10,831 in 2017.
