Last week, the High Court ruled that inspectors could investigate the innermost goings-on at Independent News & Media, following a series of amazing allegations being made against it. Nobody knows what the future now holds for the troubled newspaper group

A little after 8.30am on Friday, September 1, the chief executive and chief financial officer of Independent News & Media (INM) began a conference call with analysts to discuss the company’s financial results for the six months to June. Both Michael Doorly and Ryan Preston reiterated that profits for that period of €11.5 million were in line with stock market expectations.
