New status for Beef Plan Movement may break impasse

The Beef Plan Movement expects its status as a ‘producer organisation’ to be signed off by Michael Creed, the Minister for Agriculture, in the coming days, which would strengthen its position to negotiate beef prices on behalf of its members. The news comes as several meat processors, including Larry Goodman’s ABP Group, were granted court orders against some farmers who continued to picket facilities last week over beef prices.
