New law to affect lesbian couples registering as parents
A new law will ban lesbian parents from putting both their names on their child’s birth cert if they use an anonymous sperm donor.
The civil registration bill allows both female parents to be on the birth cert as long as they use a named sperm donor from a registered Irish clinic. They can be named on the birth cert as the mother of the child, or as the ‘parent’ if they prefer.
