Nasa chief: Ireland needs to create knowledge, not only commercialise it

Dr Edward Hoffman, chief knowledge officer at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa), has said he believes Ireland needs to invest more in fundamental research.

Hoffman told The Sunday Business Post last week that he agreed with 800 Irish research scientists who earlier this month joined forces to lobby the government for more investment in research to create new knowledge rather than just commercialise existing ideas.
