Strong rise in new car sales in August

The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) has called on the Government to refrain from imposing any tax increases on the sector in the forthcoming Budget.

The call came as SIMI reported that there were 7,313 new cars registered during August, an increase of 14 per cent on the same month last year. So far this year, new car sales are up 19 per cent to 138,538.
