Government worried about impact on Irish-based international tech companies
The government is concerned about the impact of the measure on the many technology companies based here, which include Facebook, Twitter, Google and Apple.
Minister of State for Data Protection Dara Murphy said that the fines should take into account how many people were affected and whether the company had notified the Data Protection Commission in time.
