Meta urged to avoid compulsory layoffs as it moves cuts 500 jobs in Ireland

Meta, the owner of Facebook, must examine “all possible solutions” to avoid compulsory layoffs as part of its plan to cut up to 500 jobs in Ireland, a leading trade union has said.
The Financial Services Union (FSU), which is engaging with some Meta staff in the layoff process, has also called on Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to ensure that the company acts on the “concerns and anxieties” of impacted staff.
