A controversial McDonald's restaurant close to three schools in Greystones, Co Wicklow will not proceed, The Sunday Business Post understands.

The supermarket chain Lidl, which owns land which it was to cede to McDonald's to build the restaurant, has instead decided to submit its own planning application for the site.
