Makhlouf says minimum 0.5% rate rise needed as ECB prepares for crunch meeting next week

Gabriel Makhlouf, the Central Bank Governor, has said a minimum increase of 50 basis points is needed at this month’s meeting of the European Central Bank.

On Monday, Makhlouf said the ECB must be open to policy rates moving into restrictive territory for some time ahead of a key decision on increasing interest rates later this month.
