Máiread McGuinness has declared her interest in a second term as a European Commissioner next year, in a move that could raise tensions with Fianna Fáil.

The former Fine Gael MEP took up the role of commissioner for financial services, financial stability and capital markets union in 2020 following the resignation of Phil Hogan after his attendance at the “Golfgate” dinner in Clifden.
