Proposed 3 per cent levy on digital firms’ revenues would remove advantage of an Irish HQ

French president Emmanuel Macron’s demand for an immediate short-term digital tax on tech giants such as Facebook and Apple have raised fresh concerns in Irish government circles.

In his keynote speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Macron put the proposed 3 per cent tax on the revenues of large digital companies firmly on the agenda for the months ahead.
