Liz Truss has been elected as leader of the UK Conservative party and will succeed Boris Johnson as Prime Minister.

Truss defeated Rishi Sunak winning 81,326 votes to Sunak’s 60,399. Following the announcement, Truss said it was an “honour to be elected” and called her victory “one of the longest job interviews in history”.
