Level of housebuilding is much lower than official figures suggest

The level of house-building across the country is significantly lower than the government’s figures suggest, according to unpublished statistics obtained by The Sunday Business Post.

Only 3,505 ‘certificates of compliance on completion’ were given using the government’s recently introduced Building Control Management System (BCMS) database. The figures are not published on the department’s website.
