Leo Varadkar floats possible ‘targeted’ mortgage interest relief for homeowners in the budget

The Taoiseach also said he expects more sitting Fine Gael TDs to not seek re-election

Leo Varadkar has again raised the prospect of rolling out targeted mortgage supports for households in the forthcoming budget after a tenth consecutive ECB rate hike yesterday.

The Taoisech said the budget tax package would be a similar scale to last year, of around €1.1 billion and suggested targeted mortgage relief measures could be included in the package.
