The Law Reform Commission is to examine whether the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) can be given enhanced powers to explain its decision-making to the public.
The Attorney General asked the commission to examine the area last week following Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s recent meeting with the family of Shane O’Farrell, who was killed in a hit-and-run incident in 2011 by a man who had a string of previous convictions.
