It has emerged that the gardaí were called in to investigate an attempt to steal around €37,000 from the office of Attorney General Máire Whelan.
The money was wrongly paid out by the office after it received forged correspondence which appeared to be from a legitimate supplier.However, the attempted fraud was detected and the money was recovered.
