Developers have said the government’s attempt to crack down on land speculation amounts to “state aid which will compromise future development of private housing”.

The Irish Home Builders Association (IHBA), a lobby group for residential developers, has complained to the government that social and affordable housing developers will have a “competitive advantage” over private market homebuilders when purchasing land because new Land Value Sharing (LVS) rules don’t apply to state housing schemes.
