In the midst of the intrigue surrounding conwoman Julia Holmes was a pitiful family tragedy. Relatives of Thomas Ruttle sat on a side bench of the 19th-century courthouse in Newcastle West, Co Limerick, last Monday, for the inquests into the deaths of the 56-year-old beekeeper and Holmes, his partner of four years.
