Three quarters of journalists at the Times and Sunday Times in Ireland will have to re-apply for their jobs as part of a cost-cutting plan at the newspaper.

The Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper told staff this afternoon that its digital operation, which publishes articles from Monday to Friday, would be scrapped as part of the restructuring plan.
