The risk of a crash-out Brexit on October 31 receded as the British parliament voted to delay the latest deal, but with the prime minister threatening to ignore a deadline to contact the EU, it’s not clear what happens next

The Brexit process has been thrown into chaos once more after MPs voted for an amendment to force British prime minister Boris Johnson into seeking a delay on leaving the EU.

After hoping to emerge with a clear mandate for the deal he negotiated last Thursday with the EU, Johnson was instead told by a majority of British MPs to look for a three-month delay to the October 31 Brexit date.
