Ireland's vital statistics also show the birth rate continues to fall
The Central Statistics Office has released itsvital statistics for 2016, showing that the birth rate continues to fall. The natural increase in the population, or births minus deaths, was 33,507 last year, 6.8 per cent lower than in 2015. Here are the key points from the release:
